Jeroen Massar - 25-11-2021 16:03:16
wow IPv4 spam in the meetecho chat....
Jelte Jansen - 25-11-2021 16:03:41
dave's audio has already left the position
Jelte Jansen - 25-11-2021 16:04:35
congratulations moritz!
Moritz Müller - 25-11-2021 16:05:57
Thanks, I'm looking forward to it!
Shane Kerr - 25-11-2021 16:08:39
Yeah... and parsing information at the very end of the variable-length packet. :-(
Peter van Dijk - 25-11-2021 16:09:10
-near- the very end ;)
Shane Kerr - 25-11-2021 16:09:20
Yes, yes. :-D
Peter van Dijk - 25-11-2021 16:09:21
(even worse)
Petr Špaček - 25-11-2021 16:09:48
And then combine ECS from client with XPF option and custom option for the second proxy layer :exploding_head:
Martin Pels - 25-11-2021 16:13:32
Éric: https://www.haproxy.org/download/2.4/doc/proxy-protocol.txt
Éric Vyncke - 25-11-2021 16:14:03
Thank you, now I need to figure out how to remove my Q ;-)
Peter van Dijk - 25-11-2021 16:14:31
I have a Trash button, so I used it :)
Tom Hill - 25-11-2021 16:14:42
Headsets questioners, headsets.
Éric Vyncke - 25-11-2021 16:14:57
@PvD thank you !
Paul Boissel dombreval - 25-11-2021 16:15:05
Yeah, and proximity mics also please.
Tom Hill - 25-11-2021 16:15:12
(Or at the very least, headphones)
Petr Špaček - 25-11-2021 16:16:47
Sorry, kick me out from the queue. It was a miss-click.
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:17:54
Geoff.. no sound
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:19:19
good advice!
Brett Carr - 25-11-2021 16:19:36
its a long way from Australia to Amsterdam and back
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:19:53
esp. for arrow-keys .-)
Éric Vyncke - 25-11-2021 16:20:20
@Kurt: it depends though on the arrow direction ;-)
Jim Reid - 25-11-2021 16:21:03
I thought Aussie computers had boomerang keys instead of arrows. :-)
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:23:00
@Eric: and they're down under, hence reversed?
Peter Koch - 25-11-2021 16:23:01
I must be dreaming receiving an address broker "information" in the meetecho chat ?!
Paul Boissel dombreval - 25-11-2021 16:23:11
Peter, you're not...
Éric Vyncke - 25-11-2021 16:23:14
@Kurt: I think so
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:23:16
+1 Peter
Petr Špaček - 25-11-2021 16:23:20
I just received the same. Huh? Spam here?
Paul Boissel dombreval - 25-11-2021 16:23:34
That's a very silly thing to do..
Luuk Hendriks - 25-11-2021 16:23:36
Same, unfortunately..
Peter Hessler - 25-11-2021 16:23:42
yea, I got it as well. I guess they're working their way down the list alphabetically
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:24:38
Is chat-spam a violation of meeting etiqutte?
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:24:58
I'd say: YES.
Peter Hessler - 25-11-2021 16:25:08
it isn't specifically listed in the Code of Conduct, but I will report it as an offence as soon as I find the correct method
Ruben van Staveren - 25-11-2021 16:25:18
I think I just clicked one away? do those come as a pop up?
Paul Boissel dombreval - 25-11-2021 16:25:57
Definitely a violation.
Elmar K Bins - 25-11-2021 16:26:00
Kurt: "Meeting etiquette" being that if someone wants to talk to you about crap you don't really care about, they have to buy you drinks?
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:26:39
Elmi: No. Spam is not fun.
Elmar K Bins - 25-11-2021 16:27:19
I'd measure this to the standards of a "live" meeting. They wouldn't dare do it there, so they certainly shouldn't do it here.
Elmar K Bins - 25-11-2021 16:27:33
(Unless they buy me a bunch of drinks, then they can talk to me of course)
Peter Hessler - 25-11-2021 16:28:45
I'll use https://www.ripe.net/contact-form and choose topic "Report Violation of RIPE Policies or RIPE NCC Procedures". seems most appropriate for non-CoC spam
Ulka Athale - 25-11-2021 16:30:22
We have received several complaints regarding the spam. You can indeed make an official report using the contact form.
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:31:41
Peter: these categories do not really fit..
Peter Hessler - 25-11-2021 16:32:20
agreed, but this seemed the "least worst" option to me
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:34:17
I suggest a poll after each presentation with the following question. did you understand the content: 1. Yes - 2. somewhat - 3. No
Alex Le Heux - 25-11-2021 16:35:11
@kurt: That's self-certification and never works. I would suggest a written quiz for more accurate data collection.
Peter van Dijk - 25-11-2021 16:35:43
Depends on whether we're judging the presenter, or the viewer.
Antony Gollan - 25-11-2021 16:36:09
Hi folks - thank you for the reports - we have removed the person behind the spam for now and will follow up with them.
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:36:11
@Alex. no seriously, instant feedback on the audience level of competency/content complexity?
Jelte Jansen - 25-11-2021 16:38:38
if only there was some existing hierarchy which you could query for information about domain names
Peter Hessler - 25-11-2021 16:39:56
@Jelte whois, right.
Jelte Jansen - 25-11-2021 16:40:03
:)
Gert Doering - 25-11-2021 16:41:48
I think that is the first reasonable use of DoH I have heard about. A javascript frontend that can do a direct DNS query bypassing the browser.
Elmar K Bins - 25-11-2021 16:42:52
(OFFTOPIC Networking): garf/Blake/Simon/Vasilis: I hacked up a little script and it pulled 2498 Looking Glass URLs out of pdb... just in case there was any question of people actually maintaining that info there.
Marco Davids - 25-11-2021 16:44:07
Great stuff!
Brett Carr - 25-11-2021 16:44:19
yes v interesting
Peter Hessler - 25-11-2021 16:44:22
:clap::clap::clap:
Anand Buddhdev - 25-11-2021 16:44:34
Yes
Elmar K Bins - 25-11-2021 16:44:59
Go Anand :-)
Elmar K Bins - 25-11-2021 16:47:49
That explains who steals our traffic in Yogyakarta
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:47:54
that looks stable and distributed :)
Blake Willis - 25-11-2021 16:48:53
Elmar that's awesome! maybe you could contribute it to one of the peeringdb github projects
Peter Thomassen - 25-11-2021 16:49:07
In Germany, we're still stuck at 5G
Vesna Manojlovic - 25-11-2021 16:49:30
@Elmar K Bins "2498 Looking Glass URLs out of pdb" where will you publish the list?
Shane Kerr - 25-11-2021 16:49:54
Not much DNSSEC in the reverse DNS space? That's a pity. :'(
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:50:47
@Shane: I imagine the validation ratio for rDNS-records with DNSSEC.. <1% ?
Peter van Dijk - 25-11-2021 16:51:49
Kurt, why would that validation rate be so low?
Peter van Dijk - 25-11-2021 16:52:01
Validators do not treat the reverse space specially.
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:52:20
Peter: because rDNS content is much less desired and used.
Shane Kerr - 25-11-2021 16:52:41
In DNS, we love all names and records the same.
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:53:19
I am not against it, but the effort is quite high, for very low effects. Maybe it would help to emphasize, what it would bring to add DNSSEC to rDNS.
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 16:54:27
thanks, makes sense.
João Luis Silva Damas - 25-11-2021 16:58:44
petr is present at this session so don't be shy about questions
Peter Thomassen - 25-11-2021 16:58:47
One could use it to do DANE-like things for IPs
Petr Špaček - 25-11-2021 17:00:12
Yes please, I'm all ears.
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 17:05:10
so the upgrade from 9.11 to 9.16 brings me 1ms faster speeds?
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 17:07:22
Gert: it's difficult to compare them. you need very similar setups, etc.
Kurt Kayser - 25-11-2021 17:07:35
right.. Petr.
Gert Doering - 25-11-2021 17:08:09
Kurt: well, "default configuration, no tuning, and same query set" is comparable
Andrew Campling - 25-11-2021 17:08:14
For a light-hearted topic, WG participants may be interested to know that we’ll be covering “The many (often obscure) uses of DNS” with Peter Lowe of DNSFilter at 16:00 UTC on my weekly call next Monday 29th November. Message me directly if interested.
Gert Doering - 25-11-2021 17:08:27
most people will run the stuff pretty much with default tuning
Jelte Jansen - 25-11-2021 17:08:32
clap clap clap
Benno Overeinder - 25-11-2021 17:08:33
Thanks Dave!
Moritz Müller - 25-11-2021 17:08:39
 thanks Dave!
Jelte Jansen - 25-11-2021 17:08:41
and thanks and cheers to dave!
Ulka Athale - 25-11-2021 17:08:41
