Marco Hogewoning - 23-11-2021 14:34:11

Daniel Karrenberg - 23-11-2021 14:37:24
:-)

Rob Evans - 23-11-2021 14:40:03
I'm assuming the colour scheme for the slides is Delft Blauw. :)

Marco Hogewoning - 23-11-2021 14:41:01
don't know actually, but yes might not be total coincedence the TU Delft colour is blue as well

Marco Hogewoning - 23-11-2021 14:42:00
for a proper delft blue tile theme, you should look for NLIGF...they fully embraced it

Michael Richardson - 23-11-2021 14:42:17
Shadow servers... Babylon 5 anyone?

Leo Vegoda - 23-11-2021 14:42:53
I have been rewatching some B5 lately and it holds up all these years later

Jim Reid - 23-11-2021 14:48:24
This is an interesting followup to the work Arman from TU Delft presented at RIPE77.

Joey Boon - 23-11-2021 14:54:10
How did the ISP detect the malware? I assume through abuse reports?

Jad El Cham - 23-11-2021 14:54:34
Hi Joey , please write your question in the Q&A panel (icon with question mark) or please wait until the end of the talk and ask your question using audio. Thank you!

Sandoche BALAKRICHENAN - 23-11-2021 14:55:01
Please put your questions in the Q&A section

Joey Boon - 23-11-2021 14:55:06
Sorry first time user ;)

Joey Boon - 23-11-2021 14:55:10
done!

Dirk Meyer - 23-11-2021 14:59:10
In Germany "CERT Bund" send reports to the ISPs.

Wolfgang Zenker - 23-11-2021 14:59:50
@dirk they usually just repackage the shadowserver reports

Sandoche BALAKRICHENAN - 23-11-2021 14:59:50
A document somewhat elated to the topic was published by the WG members: https://www.ripe.net/publications/docs/ripe-759 (Architectural Considerations for IoT Device Security in the Home)

Julf Helsingius - 23-11-2021 15:04:41
I wish we could have more smart people instead...

Blake Willis - 23-11-2021 15:04:44
phenomenon of covid: "gardening bof"

Blake Willis - 23-11-2021 15:05:10
thanks Sandoche!

Jim Reid - 23-11-2021 15:05:13
You won't find smart people at SG20 Julf. I'm one of them. :-)

Julf Helsingius - 23-11-2021 15:05:21
:)

Michael Richardson - 23-11-2021 15:05:28
:-(

Jim Reid - 23-11-2021 15:06:19
SG20's now working on smart firefighting and smart smelting. Sigh No, I don't get it either.

Leo Vegoda - 23-11-2021 15:07:03
@Jim - Smelting as in extracting metal from ore?

Jim Reid - 23-11-2021 15:07:28
@Leo, yes - that kind of smelting.

Robert Kisteleki - 23-11-2021 15:11:50
at least they are working on the smart kind

Blake Willis - 23-11-2021 15:14:55
"access to"... see earlier prez from Bangladesh...

Blake Willis - 23-11-2021 15:15:13

Blake Willis - 23-11-2021 15:15:37
centurylink took 3 months to fix my brother's fiber...

Jim Reid - 23-11-2021 15:16:46
Blake, "my ISP's worse than yours" is an infinite race to the bottom. :-(

Blake Willis - 23-11-2021 15:17:50
great Q Michael

Sabine Meyer - 23-11-2021 15:20:03
currently skimming the BERE

Sabine Meyer - 23-11-2021 15:20:26
*C NTP GLs - it does have a section on network security

Daniel Karrenberg - 23-11-2021 15:20:41
If i remember correctly one of the purposes of this WG was to be a forum for Internet operators to obsere how IoT operators use the Internet and give recommendations to both Internet operators and IoT operators to make this work better and reduce breakage. Do I remember correctly?

Michael Richardson - 23-11-2021 15:20:42
what are the consequences, I guess, is what I want to know. Who will enforce them?

Jan Zorz - 23-11-2021 15:21:15
Daniel: yes :)

Blake Willis - 23-11-2021 15:22:48
US IoT legislation: https://www.warner.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2020/11/warner-gardner-applaud-congressional-passage-of-bipartisan-bill-to-secure-internet-connected-devices

Blake Willis - 23-11-2021 15:23:30
very proud of my senator for initiating that

Michael Richardson - 23-11-2021 15:23:54
So far, nobody has been charged anywhere. Until that happens, we won't really know if violating the regulations is just a cost of doing business, or if this will actually force change.

Sandoche BALAKRICHENAN - 23-11-2021 15:27:20
@Daniel, the charter has a much broader scope: https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/wg/active-wg/iot

Alex de Joode - 23-11-2021 15:28:09
doe security updates need to be available for free, or can that be a paied service?

Jad El Cham - 23-11-2021 15:28:38
Hi Alex , please write your question in the Q&A panel

Michael Richardson - 23-11-2021 15:28:43
which spatial chat are we using?

Michael Richardson - 23-11-2021 15:29:00
I mean, which room. Beach? Bar? Elevator?

Blake Willis - 23-11-2021 15:29:04
:clap::clap::clap: dank u wel Marco!

Julf Helsingius - 23-11-2021 15:29:13
Wouldn'

Blake Willis - 23-11-2021 15:29:21
it's IoT, chat is in the basement

Julf Helsingius - 23-11-2021 15:29:32
Wouldn't the elevator be appropriate for IoT?

Eric van Uden - 23-11-2021 15:29:34
Tks, Marco

Blake Willis - 23-11-2021 15:29:40
the toaster :-)

Marco Hogewoning - 23-11-2021 15:29:45
The Commission text says :"[…] any radio equipment that can communicate itself over the internet, whether it communicates directly or via any other equipment (‘internet-connected radio equipment’).”“

Sandoche BALAKRICHENAN - 23-11-2021 15:30:05
@Michael; we hope to create one IoT room in the spatial chat

Eric van Uden - 23-11-2021 15:30:07
So every CPE?

Marco Hogewoning - 23-11-2021 15:31:01
@ruediger guess that is fopr the lawyers to further define "the Internet"

Julf Helsingius - 23-11-2021 15:31:46
Uh oh... :)

Kurt Kayser - 23-11-2021 15:32:04
Q: Where does the Internet start and stop?

Marco Hogewoning - 23-11-2021 15:32:11

Kurt Kayser - 23-11-2021 15:32:50
